Beloved man, Robert (Bob) Curwood, passed away at his home on October 28 2022. A long time resident of Renton, WA. Friend to many, and most favored uncle to the Curwood clan sired by his two brothers, Phil and Jerry Curwood who proceeded him in death. No children of his own, he shared his sage advice, love and reprimands when needed, with many people. A constant, steady presence, he is missed.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1936, and losing parents as a young man, part of his youth was spent living with relatives and growing up in Chicago and Ogden. Joining the Army in Ogden, eventually brought him to Ft. Lewis, WA, last duty assignment and honorable discharge at Ft. Lawton, WA in 1957.
Bob joined the training program at Harbor Island Seattle for potential Boeing employment. It was there he met his lifelong friend Helen Gasparich (which led to many adventures and stories). Employment however was at Kenworth Trucking, as a painter for thirty plus years and Bob was delighted to retire.
Interests were many. Garage sales, hunting for antiques using his finely honed bartering skills. A member of the Model Railroad Club, monthly meetings provided additional cars, tracks and set ups, one of which was in operation at his passing. Lots of travel by trailer and motorhome to California and Montana. Local properties Heron Island, Cle Elum, Easton he shared with Helen and Marco Gasparich. Not wanting to neglect his visitors, a slot machine, mechanical of course, resided in the living room tho no great fortunes were won or lost. Old style country music was his type, while a favorite song was "When Irish Eyes are Smiling", tho Irish he was not.
He is survived by five nieces: Marcy Debbie, Kimberly and Laura; and seven nephews: Phil, Robert, Tim, Terry, Chris, Rick and James.
Committal service at Tahoma National Cemetery, November 16, 2022 at 11:30 AM, 18600 SE 240th Street, Kent Washington
