The Seahawks kicked off Day 3 of the NFL Draft by adding to the back end of their defense, taking Cincinnati cornerback Coby Bryant with the 109th overall pick in the draft.

Bryant was a standout at Cincinnati, twice earning first-team All-AAC honors and, in 2021 winning the Jim Thorpe Award, which goes to the top defensive back in college. He was also a first-team All-American last season for multiple publications.

Bryant, like many previous Seahawks cornerbacks selected under head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider, is a taller player at 6 foot 1, and he measured in with 30 5/8-inch arms at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine. He posted a 4.54-second 40-yard dash at the combine.
“Productive four-year starter whose experience sharpened his football IQ and leadership qualities,” NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein wrote of Bryant. “Bryant has good size and can be a real-time route reader, with above-average ball skills and an anticipatory brand of coverage. He will need help against NFL deep speed and could struggle in an off-man capacity when he has to transition and match route breaks throughout the game.”

Bryant shined at Cincinnati opposite Ahmad “Suace” Gardner, who went to the New York Jets with the fourth pick in this year’s draft. Bryant recorded nine career interceptions for the Bearcats, including two last year and four in 2020. He also broke up 35 passes in his career.
With Bryant coming to the Seahawks, he joins Tre Brown, a 2021 fourth-round pick, as well as Sidney Jones as perimeter cornerbacks on the roster.
