Intel Meteor Lake confirmed to feature new socket
Intel has exposed some confidential information on their upcoming products.
The data is not easily accessible, however titles for hidden documents are listed in a publicly available web sitemap. This was spotted by ComputerBase. Those titles provide very basic information on upcoming desktop, server, and laptop products.
Starting with the LGA1851 socket. Actually, this is not the first time that we learn about the new platform for future desktop CPUs. This socket was already mentioned by Benchlife as early as June this year. The documents do not confirm Arrow Lake-S being compatible with this socket, but they do confirm Meteor Lake-S.

The 14th Gen Core series are reportedly designed for LGA1851 socket which is actually the same size as LGA1700 currently used for Alder/Raptor Lake series. It is not clear why does Meteor Lake even need a new socket anyway, but among many possible reasons it was revealed that the IHS is slightly taller, possibly due to more advanced multi-tile packaging technology being used for the series.

Therefore, Intel has confirmed that LGA1851 socket does exist and even that it is designed for Meteor Lake-S. There is no reason to believe that Arrow Lake-S will not be compatible with the socket as well. Leaked documents go further by sharing details on memory support for the new Meteor mobile series. The P-series are reportedly supporting LPDDR5X-7500 memory.
With new information on upcoming Raptor Lake-Refresh, the roadmap for client CPUs could look like this.
