NEW MEADOWS - Deputies in Idaho's Adams County encountered 36-year-old Donnell Johnson during a traffic stop near New Meadows on Thursday, December 8. He was accompanied by a 16-year-old juvenile. p>
Johnson was found to have a felony warrant in Florida for Aggravated Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer, Fleeing or Eluding Police, Possession of Burglary Conveyance, Theft and Driving while Suspended. The Adams County Sheriff's Office took Johnson into custody.
During a search of Johnson's vehicle, deputies located driver’s licenses, credit cards and other banking drafts belonging to multiple persons ranging from Seattle to Moscow. In addition, Johnson was in possession of a stolen license plate from the Kootenai County area. Further investigation uncovered that each of these items had been stolen from vehicles that had the windows broken, in multiple jurisdictions throughout northern Idaho and Washington State.
Johnson was booked on charges of Grand Theft, multiple counts of Unlawful Possession of Financial Transaction Cards, Fugitive to Idaho, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Burglary Tools and Injury to Child.
The juvenile was also booked on charges of Grand Theft, multiple counts of Unlawful Possession of a Financial Transaction Card, Possession of Burglary Tools and Possession of Marijuana. The juvenile was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center in Canyon County.
Through the assistance of multiple Law Enforcement Agencies in Idaho and Washington, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office was able to identify several victims of vehicle burglary and grand theft, and is actively working to return the items to their owners.
Police believe additional victims still exist in north Idaho and eastern Washington. Authorities ask anyone who has had their vehicle window broken and property stolen from it in recent days to be sure to contact local law enforcement to report the crime.
The Adams County Sheriff's Office worked with all these agencies in the investigation so far: Seattle Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff, Clark County Sheriff, Pullman Police Department, Spokane Police Department, Kootenai County Sheriff, and Moscow Police Department.
